Villa Mimosa - General Information:

Villa Mimosa is situated twelve kms from the airport at Girona. The village of Sils, about 5 kms away, has a RENFE railway station with hourly connections to Barcelona, (50 minutes) Girona (15 minutes) and is cheap and efficient. The French border is 65kms to the North. For travellers arriving at Girona, we offer transfers from the airport, and if your ultimate destination is elsewhere, after a restful night and satisfying breakfast, delivery to the Train Station at Sils, back to the airport to pick up your hire car or a taxi service to one of the nearby resorts, is offered.

Should you stay with us for more than one night, there are three excellent bar/restaurants within walking distance. This is a working Spanish town, the waitresses do not speak English and the menu will be typically Catalan. Weekday lunches, ‘menu del dia’ will give you 3 courses with wine, water and bread for 10.00€. The people of the region are amazingly friendly and helpful and should you be with us on Saturday, you will almost certainly be invited to the weekly dance at the ‘socal’ (all ages).

Santa Coloma de Farners is a typical Catalan market town about the same size as Penrith. It sits in a basin; Pyrenees to the North, Montseny Massif to the West, the plain opens to the Med to the East, and Barcelona to the South. This area is known as ‘Green Spain’, which drew us to it in the first place and offers forests, lakes and mountain tracks, yet still, within easy reach of the finest beaches of the Costa Brava and the metropolis of Barcelona.

Girona and Vic are equal in magnificence to Barcelona, if not in size, ancient and beautiful, they should not be missed.

Santa Coloma has a 11^th century castle, a river with walks, two spas, and a biscuit museum and shop, plus a selection of shops,bars and restaurants.

There are regular buses into Santa Coloma (just over a mile away) for 1 euro (or the owners will provide a taxi for the same price).

There is one bus from Santa Coloma, daily, to Lloret or up into the mountains to Olot. Return to Lloret 7e and 10e to Olot

There are buses from Santa Coloma or trains from Sils to Barcelona taking approx 50 minutes. Prices vary on time of day but around15e.

There are regular buses into Girona within a few minutes walk (up a hill).

The owners are happy to provide a free taxi service to guests with walking difficulties to the local restaurants
